Welcome to Cooney, Watson & Associates
Established in 1986, Cooney, Watson & Associates, Inc. is a full-service
marketing, public relations and advertising agency that produces coordinated
public service, public education and business-to-business communications campaigns that directly affect the quality of life in our community and our state.
An award-winning agency, we produce comprehensive communications campaigns that:
- Accurately and effectively communicate a variety of messages to diverse
groups
- Utilize a variety of media to efficiently target specific groups, including
print, television, radio, social media and web applications
- Create a common theme and look to unite separate entities, divisions
or service providers
- Maximize budgetary dollars through collaborations with media and private
partners
- Provide accountability by including outcomes reporting as an integral
element of our services
Since its inception, our agency has worked on a number of high-profile
campaigns, including:
- Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority – Water conservation campaigns including “Water by the Numbers” and the “Great Flush Rush” as well as public impact communications for the San Juan-Chama Drinking Water Project.
- New Mexico Department of Health – Ongoing campaigns
for the Family Infant Toddler Program (1991-present); Breast and Cervical
Cancer Early Detection Program (2002-present); and Diabetes Prevention & Control
Program (2004-present). Previous campaigns include Appropriate
Use of Antibiotics; Prevention of and Harm Reduction for Hepatitis C; Arthritis and Osteoporosis
Education and Prevention; and others.
- Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission – Election-year campaigns (2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008) to educate voters on the Commission’s evaluations of and recommendations on whether to vote to retain metropolitan court, state district court and appellate court candidates standing for retention.
- NM Attorney General’s office – Consumer
fraud prevention hotline; strengthening of DWI laws.

Mexico – Get the Picture,” groundbreaking campaign promoting
low-cost mammograms to women of color (African Americans, Hispanics and
Native Americans).

are the Source – Be the Solution,” campaign to educate
New Mexicans on how to buy products with less packaging.
- New Mexico State Highway & Transportation Department (now
New Mexico Department of Transportation) – original Toss No
Más anti-litter campaign and “We’re All in This Fix
Together – Big I Reconstruction Campaign.”
We have won a number of awards for many of the campaigns mentioned above,
but prefer to measure success by actual outcomes – the
number of people who take a specific or desired action or an increase in
public awareness of available programs and services via phone calls to
a hotline, visits to a website, etc. We put in place measurements for all
of our activities, including but not limited to earned media, paid media,
distribution of printed or educational materials, website analytics, and
other analytical tools as needed. We pride ourselves on being completely
accountable to our clients on every penny we spend and base our actions
on research.
